“SHARING TRUTH AND GRACE FROM THE PSALMS ABOUT TRUSTING GOD AND WHAT HE PROMISES”

Psalm 16:1 “Preserve me, O God, for in You I put my trust.”

Psalm 16:11 “You will show me the path of life; In Your presence is fullness of joy; At Your right hand are pleasures forevermore.”

Taken from today’s reading in “The One Year Bible” by Zondervan.

1. We can put our trust in God.

Psalm 16:1 “Preserve me, O God, for in You I put my trust.”

King David was praying, and asking God to preserve him.
To be preserved by God is to be kept safe by God, that is the idea.
David prayed in faith, and then he acted in faith by putting his trust in God.
In other words, he came to God for refuge and found it.
God is our refuge, and can be trusted anytime, but especially during storms.

2. What God promises us.

Psalm 16:11 “You will show me the path of life; In Your presence is fullness of joy; At Your right hand are pleasures forevermore.”

Here we see several promises from God, let’s take a quick look at each one.

#1. You will show me the path of life.
Or, You will show me the way of life.
Death is all around.
So is life.
God takes us from death to life when we turn to Him, and place our faith in Jesus Christ to save us.
So, the promise, is that God will show us the path of life.
And, we could add, that in times of trials and such, that God is there with us to show us where to walk, when, and why etc, etc.
He is life, and He shows us the path of life, which is in Christ.

#2. In God’s presence is fullness of joy.
How wonderful is that to think about,
Another way of looking at this, is that God will grant us the joy of being in His presence.

#3. At God’s right hand are pleasures forevermore.
Of course we know that Jesus is at the Father’s right hand.
And, in Jesus are all the blessings of God that He has for us.
God promises us that we will not only live with Him forever, but we will live in Divine pleasure, unlike anything we have ever known here on this earth.

Some additional and final thoughts:

1. God can always be trusted, no matter what the situation and circumstances are.

2. God is trustworthy, and He is faithful to always do as He promises to do.

3. God has more blessings waiting for us than we can imagine.

4. Before we know it, our faith will become sight.

A prayer:

Father, thank You for being our preserver, and thank You that we can trust You completely and without fail.
You are so generous, and You have such an eternal future planned out for each of us. Lord, we sometimes can’t wait, but we wait in confidence and joy, knowing that You will finish the good work that You have started in our lives. In Jesus name, amen.
